Term 3 Week 7 -
After our briefing at Glenelg Surf life saving club, we immediately thought of different ideas that we could use. Some of our ideas included: Vietnamese day, Table Tennis tournament,Badmington tornament, cooking show, powerpoints, surveys, talk to other classes and other Vietnamese sports. Unfortunately we could only do some of these ideas!
Term 3 Week 8 -
In week 2 we gathered infomaton on topics such as Vietnamese sports, clothes, food and pop facts. we also talked about having a cooking show but we needed to learn how to Vietamese food. So we came up with the idea of inviting one of our mums of a student in Year 6 to help us out and show us how to cook different Vietamese dishes.
Term 3 Week 9 -
On Wednesday 17.9.08 Phil Allan and Jacob Gates came to our school and talked to us about our project. Phil gave us the idea to draw up a timeline which has helped us a lot. Meanwhile Jacob installed Contribute and taught us how to us the program.
Term 3 Week 10 -
We Wrote a letter to Oahn [Vivien's mum] to arrange for her to come in Wk 1 of Term 4 to demonstrate cooking to the 4 students working on the project. We asked her to purchase the ingredients and to bring in any utensils she needed.
Term 4 Week 1 -
During the first week back at school we confirmed arrangments with Vivien's mum to come in, in week 2 of Term 4. She let us know that we woiuld be cooking Vietamese Cold Rolls, Special Fried Rice and Vietamese Sponge cake. We contacted Highes and Loveday sport supplies to ask them to come out and show us their badmington equipment. The Rep came on Friday and we decided on what we needed. We purchased 2 nets and frames, 8 badmington racquets and a container of Shuttlecocks.
Term 4 Week 2 -
Our sport equipment arrived. Very exciting!!! In week 2 we had Oanh Vivien's mum come in. She was great; we learnt how to cook and prepare Cold rolls, Fried rice and a very special Vietnamese spongecake.
Term 4 Week 3 -
On Tuesday we organised a cooking show like ready steady cook. We had the whole middle school (60) as an adience and they voted on which team was better! The Tomatoes cooked cold rolls and the Capsicum team cooked sponge cake wich didn't turn out very well. It didn't rise properly. In the end the Tomatoes won with Cold Rolls, they were delicious!!
Term 4 Week 4 -
On Thursday we made preparations for the badminton demo next week. We showed people how to set up and take down the badminton nets.
Term 4 Week 5 -
On Tuesday everybody was excited because straight after assembly we - the middleschool - had the whole hall to ourselves for the badminton demonstration. First we got into partners. Then one at a time we took it in turns to practice hitting the shuttlecock (thing that you hit) up as many times in a row as we could.
Term 4 Week 6-
We are working extra hard this week to finish our website and prepare our demonstration for the expo. The website needs a lot of work............
