Touch

In Sierra Leone touch is a very popular game which involves lots of exercise and skill. After school many children will draw a touch ‘court’ and start playing. The touch court is a rectangular shape with three horizontal lines and one vertical line straight down the middle (example shown below).

   

This game involves two teams of six people. The objective of this game is simple. One of the two teams tries to get through the court without being tagged by the defending team. The defending team tries to tag at least one member of the attacking team. As soon as one member of the attacking team is caught the defending team wins. But the defending team is not allowed out of the four lines.

                                    

The person in the center has the two lines in the middle while the other two only have the one horizontal line. If the attacking team gets through the court and back to where they started, the attacking team wins. This game may sound hard but once you’ve played it a few times you will find it easier.
